Chevrolet Volt
Released December, 2010
The Pros:Can be charged by plugging into a regular 110-volt outlet. Eligible for $7500 tax credit in USA. 3-4X less expensive than gas when running on electric-only mode.
The Cons:Pricey at $40K. Fairly long payback period if buying purely for economics. Producing the battery makes vehicle worse for the environment than a gas only vehicle running for 12 years continuously.
The Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle being produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors and will be launched November 30, 2010, as a 2011 model
